Look Up

I know it’s totally hipster and philosophical of me, (please appreciate that philosophy gives me a headache and I’ve taken two aspirins to get through writing this post) but I think that what I have to say is important enough to warrant this post.

Lately I’ve come to realise that a scary commonality with millennials these days is that more often than not, we live to experience things through social media. Don’t get me wrong, I’m just as addicted as everyone else, but I’ve also begun to see that it has started to effect the quality of my experiences.

I abhor cliches and try to avoid them at all costs but the truth of the matter is, while I was away staring at my phone I looked up and realised that I was more concerned about taking photos to add to my instagram and Facebook then actually enjoying anything that wasn’t attached to my iPhone screen. So I decided to do something drastic and crazy!! I turned my phone, iPod, and computer off stuck it in a draw and got my aunt to hide the key.

My day detached from the digital world taught me that the internet is great, but so is leaving them at home in favour of a day off the grid. I’m glad I did it, and I’d encourage you to try it to. I know it sounds very basic bitch of me but I actually went for a walk through Daylesford, met some amazing people, bought a vintage vinyl record that was on sale (score!!!) and read a book for the first time in months. Sure I was exhausted, but I actually fell asleep at a reasonable time and got to spend some much needed quality time with myself and my family.

In conclusion, I guess all I’m saying is “there is more to life than the internet, and once in a while it’s actually worth going out to experience it”

Okay well this has been swell, Good talk *hesitant back pat followed by an awkward exit*

As always stay cool and SEIZE THE DAY☀️
